Last month my best friend got a BIG surprise. Well, it wasn't really that big of a surprise, but it was a BIG token she received.
She got engaged!
Such a sweet story - but I'll let her share that with you sometime.
I am so excitement in anticipation for her wedding! I spoke with her a few days after the question was popped; she was a little over whelmed by all the options. It is very over whelming! All the different things that you can have and do.
She asked if I'd help out - as best as I can from 4000 miles away! - by keeping a look out for things that she might like. I love most wedding shows, and this won't be a hard task ; )
It got me thinking about my own wedding, and the weddings that I've attended, or been apart of. Most recently my sister, Joanna - who's blog you can find here - got married, and I was in her wedding. Would you know that was the first wedding I've ever been in?! Minus that time I was a flower girl, but I'm not counting that. I thought back to the summer we got married, and there were 3 weddings that summer! It was a wedding year for sure. I remember back to the biggest wedding I've ever been to, it was a real black tie affair. Amazing!
I think of weddings as I think of people, they are all different and personalized by those who are tying the knot. Each has its own flair that represents that couple. I wonder about the couple and if they've spend as much time investing in the relationship that they are entering into as they have invested in the wedding itself.
We went through premarital counseling - two different classes really - and I'm so glad we did. Not that we've had the perfect marriage, but the tools we gained from those sessions have really helped us to avoid some hard times, or work through some tough ones. My favorite has been '100% words'. You know which ones they are 'always', and 'never' are my most used.
What about you, what are the things you love - or dislike - about weddings?
If you went through counseling beforehand, or shortly after, what was the best advice/tool you took from it? I'd love to hear them!
Happy Thursday!
