The most recent car we have bought was on craigslist, it's a Camry. We love Camrys, we use to have one when we lived in NYC but ended up selling it due to the lack of parking, and hassle it was becoming to move and the amount of parking tickets we were receiving as well.
After finding it, making an offer, and the day before we went to pick it up, Mark informs me that the car is a manual.
I don't drive manual.
I have tried once or twice in the past and it never worked out for me.
I was up for the challenge - my thinking was that it would be fine, I'd learn and because we would have one, I'd have no choice than to figure it out and learn how to drive it.
First lesson - we, I, drove around and around the parking lot. I stalled more than once or twice - probably close to 20 times, but I had a better handle on what I was suppose to be doing.
Second lesson - about 3 weeks after the first - I did much better. I took it out on the open roads - or should I say the back country roads that no one was on this particular summer afternoon.
I think I only stalled twice - for real!
The next day I had to work and Mark says to me - 'Take the Camry, you've got it'. What?! Who's he trying to kid? I still had no idea what I was doing! I was just hoping I'd make it on time.
Success! I made it to work, on time, with out stalling!
YEAH!
I'm proud to say that I can and continue to drive the manual Camry and I'm getting more and more comfortable with it. I don't want to get in heavy traffic with it, but I can drive it :)
Go Me!
So what about you? A big accomplishment that you have conquered and feel proud to have finished? What about the manual part, can you drive stick??

Oh drivin a stick is so much fun. :) I'm glad y'all got one. The more you drive it, the more you'll see how much control you personal have contro. Its strange to drive an automatic now for me. When we get back to the states, I want a manual again. Go you!!! I'm so proud!! :)
