To The Point

I have a tendency to be overly wordy - a quality I gain from my mother. I don't mean to use 1000 words when 10 would have done it, but I do.

Today I wanted to type a blurb about time management. I don't do it very well, I'm actually really bad at it I think. This morning after taking about 45min that it took to send an email - something that should have only taken me about 10 mins to complete - I notice that I could have used other time than right after breakfast to start doing that. A time that I know the girls are very needy and also in need of a referee.
I was just noticing that I haven't had a chance to catch up on some DVR'd things I want to get to, but because I was doing other - more productive things this afternoon I did get to do these few things:

-I started reading a new book
-cleaned up after having some friends over this morning
-cleaned up the kitchen
-made a cheese dip for this evening
-filled and ran the dishwasher
-put away cloths and organized some of the girls things
-eat lunch

I did get on FB a few times, but didn't stay long. My point today is that I've been filling my days with useless things - I think - and today I was able to see what I could really get done if I just focus on what needs to be done, and let the DVR keep recording, and stop complaining about all the time I think I don't have to do things. I want to be productive and feel accomplished at the end of the day, instead of run over my list of things I didn't get to for one reason or another.

What about you, what do you fill your day with? busyness, or productive things that need to be done? I don't want to get so busy and lose focus on the things that matter - my family and spiritual life - but I do want to make the most of the time I do have, and at the end of the day - get to the point!
