Think of a leader in your life. Think of the way they challenged and hopefully encourage you. Think of the positive and good things they do. I'm sure I don't even have to ask of the times they have let you down or did something that made you question why you thought so highly of them in the first place, right?
Leaders are people, human, and make plenty of mistakes. We all do. I just read a post on leadership and some unrealistic expectations people put on those in that role. It made me think, being on both sides of this issue, about the way I view and think of those in leadership in my own life. I know they are human, but its far too easy to place them to a higher level of expectations the minuet I know they are in some kind of leadership role.
Being mindful of how we view those who are leaders in our life is key to holding them to more realistic expectations, keeping in mind they are human too. Also remembering - if you are in leadership - that others are watching, always. Cutting them some slack, volunteering, helping out, finding a place to serve can help, are great ways to get involved and share the vision. If you know what the leader is leading towards, knowing where they are going, making it easier to follow.
What are your thoughts, any good leaders that come to you mind? What made them such good leader do you think? I'd love to hear.
