I'm reading this reading plan from YouVersion and it is really challenging me. Todays hit me like a ton of bricks . . . Where is my Joy?
Am I really investing and pouring into my little ones in a way that is beneficial and helping to grow them?
Am I teaching them that they are my priority and are a Joy to be around?
Will they have memories of a Joyful and Cheerful childhood?
Am I cultivating an environment that is welcoming and inviting - one that is where they want to be and not where they have to be?
Oh dear Lord that I would seek You and your ways. That I would put them into practice and teach our little ones about them. Lord that I would be an example of the kind of Joy You bring and give and can supply.
Little ones are a tough age. They are demanding, needy and very selfish - for the love, attention, and instruction that they need from Us. There is a reason that we are put in charge of them. To teach them show them, instruct and guide. Who will they learn from if we are not teaching them? I want to be that influence. I want to be who they come to, who they feel safe in asking for advice. It starts now, it started the day you first met them. Our jobs and roles in their lives are not just a one time, one and done kind of thing. We can't cram all they need to know and learn into one lesson or day. No, this relationship that we get to have with them is one of much importance and one that we Get to have. One we - and they - have been blessed with.
I'm pushing on with this devo. I know I can be challenged to look at my attitude, life and the relationship that I have with Christ and how that is being reflected on my little ones. Because I know if I don't show them that relationship - the one I have with Christ and my Savior - I will have failed. That is the most important thing there is - a real relationship with Jesus! One that is full of Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Self Control, Love, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Kindness. It is a good thing He is not done with me yet - I have a lot to learn so I can teach some little minds and hearts about!

sounds like a great devo. totally did not remember you had a blog. I can just go in autopilot mode with my kids with very little intentionality. I have to be purposeful about getting down at their level, looking in their eyes, really listening, playing with them, and just having fun with. I want more fun with them.
