Growing up my mother had this thing about making something out of nothing - really. She would make my sister and I some great dresses, out of what just looked like plane 'ol cloth, and shes create dinner that was delici after I had wondered what we were having b/c there was nothing in the house.
Tonight, we are having asparagus quiche w/ fetta, and green onions - b/c there was nothing in the fridge, and Fresh Direct wont be here till later tonight. I had wondered last night, and today even, what I was going to fix for dinner - b/c I knew groceries wouldn't be here till after dinner. Lucy me, I remembered I had a pie crust, 7 eggs, and some veggies.
Pulling things - anything - together from nothing may not be hereditary, but I sure was taught something all those years - Be Resourceful!
Thanks Mom - This quiche is for you

ReplyDeleteYou're such a great mom! Using that tinker on top of your shoulders does wonders at times like these--"What AM I going to do for ________?" It's rather amazing what you come up with when you have to, but the secret is . . . I always had help. Without [almost] constant dependence on Jesus, none of us would have eaten, or been clothed, or gotten to where anyone HAD to be, or been bathed, . . . whatever. No, He didn't get you/us there, He just gave me the confidence that if I followed Him, He would give me an idea, thought, or MUCH grace to do what had to be done. It doesn't change as you [or the little ones] get older. Now, I need His steady, calming hand to remind me that you're exactly where you need to be, and that your darling little family is just as blessed by Him as your extended family has been. Oh, and He sends me hugs all the way from you!
