Philippians 4:8
Fix your thoughts on what is True and Honorable and Right.
Think about things that are Pure and Lovely and Admirable.
Think about things that are Excellent and Worthy of Praise.
I can't get enough of this verse! I feel like there is SO much to take away from it, SO much to talk about with it, and ever more to gain from it. So for this week I'm talking all things Philippians 4:8 - yep, I'm only going to talk about how this verse is a challenge, a sweet reminder of how our life can be filled w/ peace, and why we should train our self's to think like the 4:8 Principle! Ruthie this ones for you ; )
At a family get together recently she mentioned a book that she was reading called the 4:8 Principle. I remember thinking - that is a book I should read! Sounds like something I would enjoy and get a lot out of. I didn't get the book, I still don't have the book. I should get the book.
I am though, going to read and re read and read again this verse - which the book is based on - until its ingrained in my mind and its what I think about.
Because if the thoughts that haunt me all day are those of lies corruption, and wrong doings
if they are thoughts that are tainted, hateful and cowardly
if they are failing and wasteful then theres no way I'll succeed at anything.
There will be no hope that I might be able to rise above what tries to pull me down.
If what we think about tells of who and what we are - I want thoughts that are pleasing and captivated by my heavenly Father. I want thoughts that encourage my spirit. I want thoughts that remind me of who I am really - not what others might negatively say of me. I want to be others focused, and if my fears of what other might say is all that fills my mind I'll be running a circle forever.
