Appreciations

In my husbands family there are many traditions. For example apple picking, we go every year to an orchard, and pick apples, throw apples, and eat apples.
Christmas Eve is another thats spent at Mama's house.
And for birthdays we give appreciations.
It might be one of my favorite times of year birthdays - the cake, the gifts - but what I really enjoy is hearing what my family who appreciates and finds value of in me. We all love to hear what others love about us, don't we? I do. I want to be liked, I want others to love being around me, I want others to like me too.
Birthdays are a big ego boost for me. This year was no different. With all the changes going on and happening - moving, passing of loved ones, vacations, weddings, and all this in the first two weeks of  October - it was nice to hear that I am Loved, I am Smart, I am . . . wait, no, thats something else.
What I meant was, it is nice to be told what my family loves and enjoys and appreciates about me.
Some traditions are just done b/c they've always been done, some are more intentional, and some can make a huge impact on our lives. Thats why this will be one that we carry on.

We are all important and loved and valued by our heavenly Father, but isn't it nice to hear it from those close to us too? Do you have people speaking life into you? Do you have an outlet from which you gain self confidence and a pat on the back? What are some of the ways you feel most valued and appreciated by those around you?
