Does that even exist? Is that even possible?
Some might think that if you have kids you automatically have plenty of patience. That all of a sudden on the day those little blessing drop into you lap there is also a little tag of understanding at to how they will do things, how they will act, how they will be.
No, there is not, there's nothing. You have to come up with and find it all on your own.
There are a few methods of finding and obtaining this kind of information - sure you can watch how your friends/others deal and handle their clan. You can look back at what your own mother/parents did and do that, or the opposite. I'm not really sure there is any right or wrong answer, but my point is there isn't one way that is the best for every family, or every child.
My parenting skills have come under a bit of strain the last few weeks. In a conversation with my sister in law the other day about parenting, something she said stood out to me -
'when I don't control everything about them, and go with the flow, it seems to work out better for me.'
Wow! It was just what I needed to hear! I find that I go crazy if I don't have control over my parenting, over my girls, I like to have things a certain way, and in a certain order. When things don't go that way I become irritable, and the opposite of patient. But that when I ease up a little and relax a bit my days turn out less stressful!
More than once I've lost my composure and cool with my little darlings. I've raised my voice more than is needed, and allowed my frustration over 'split milk' get the best of me.
Parenting is Hard, it's Tough, its Time Consuming - the bottom line is if I'm not seeking peace, and rest in God, and asking for help from Him, and those around me, it can't be the Rewarding, Delightful, Fulfilling, and Lovable experience that it should be.
Psalm 127:3
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.
NLT
Your turn, what are your thoughts? I'd love to hear them.
