Sunday was yesterday and the message at church struck me on some points. I thought today I'd share a few of those with you.
We are in the middle of a message series called 'God on Film' and yesterday movie was Pixar's Brave - having Boldness. Our pastor spoke from Acts 4:8-12. If you need a refresher on this story - Peter and John were arrested for healing a lame man, they are being questioned by the high priest.
A point that was made that I have never thought about before was that 2000+ years ago people Hated the name of Jesus and anything related to Jesus Christ. Its 2012 and people still Hate the sound of His name or anything that is related to it. What a legacy! What a might name that must be to still have influence over people today!
If you are a christian, you serve a very strong and powerful King. We serve a Lord that has no end! He is still making waves in society today, this whole 'Christian' thing is still causing 'trouble' and stirring lives up. People are still trying to make life hard on those who believe and follow Christ. Talk about making a name for yourself! God knew just what He was doing when He created us, and said - I want you to choose to love and follow me - He knew what he was doing when he gave us a free will. He knew there would be plenty that would choose not to love and give their lives to Him. He knew there would be some who would even peruse those of us who have chosen to live our lives after Christ and bring harm/death to us.
We in the U.S. might not have people seeking us out to throw us in prison, or feed us to lions for sport, but there are social hardships we might face. Being the odd one out with your views, or how you live your life.
So those are my points I took away from our service, and this passage. I'd love to hear your take away from Acts 4:8-12 if you'd like to share.
