A Mommy Post

"It is so easy to be the parent of a “good” kid, but it takes far more strength to be the parent of a child who needs much direction. As a parent, I’m not in the business of raising perfect children but of understanding their personalities in a way that informs the way I teach, encourage and discipline them appropriately. So they may grow up to be healthy, successful and a force of love to the rest of the world." Angela Wehrspan - MOPS mom of 4

{happy}

This was a rough morning - It seemed like nothing was going right, nothing was going my way. I was frustrated, inpatient and just wanted the girls to listen, and follow directions. If they would just listen and stop whining, and complaining, or arguing with each other it would have been a prefect morning. . . . . Or, if I had just taken a deep breath counted to 10, maybe even named 10 things in my life I'm thankful for right now - I could have even said a prayer I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt - our morning might have been a little smoother.

{growing so fast}

Isn't it silly when we think about how uptight we can get? Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but I am  not 'Slow to speak' or 'quick to listen' In fact I'm quite the opposite. I rush to confusion, and even aggravation. My husband sometimes ask if I want to be mad! I don't like to admit it, but there are more times when I look back over a day - afternoon, or even an hour - and think 'I am not a good mother! I have no patience, not very much love did I pour out on these girls, and why was I so upset that the water was spilled?'

So today I'm leaving off with a verse that I recently read - in a devotional about working anger! - I hope that you will take some bit of encouragement or even challenge away from it. I think we all have some room to grow, and even grace to give ourselves - I know that God has poured it out on me. I'd love to hear from you of a verse that has spoken to you recently - reading His word is good for our soul!

James 1:19&20
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters; you must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
