Small Adventures

My Father-In-Law recently took all four of his granddaughters - and me - to this place near by called Hidden Valley Animal Adventures. It's not too far from us, and much bigger than we expected. There was a decent size petting zoo, and a tractor/trolly ride that took you into the park with the bigger animals.

The day we were there, one of the water buffalos had just given birth to a baby calf 15 minuets before we pulled up. We got to see the little baby, and the momma taking care of her little one. It was amazing - I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get to see it delivered, that would have been pretty awesome! However I can only imagine the questions the girls would have been asking after seeing that. . .

If you live in the Western NY area, I would really recommend checking this place out - even though its kind of in the middle of no where I would say it is really worth the trip. With the holidays approaching, they also have some special events that would be worth checking out, like massive bone fires, and sleigh rides - if we get snow this winter.

We love the zoo, but really enjoyed being able to be up close and personable with these animals. Just a side note, the train ride does last about an hour, and there there is a tour guide that gives great info on all the animals and how the place started. Also, all the animals they do have roaming around are only herbivores plant eating animals, no carnivores. If you have been here, what was your favorite part and what would you recommend doing next time? I'd love to hear!
