If you have been around a TV in the last few days - or even the last 24 hr - you are well aware of the huge storm Sandy that came up the East coast and wouldn't leave until she'd made a big mess. As I was watching the coverage last night, thinking of all our friends in NYC, I remembered last year when we went through Irene there. This time seemed a lot different.
This morning I sat down and pulled up my bible app - Youversion - and the verse for today was this -
Wow! Just what I needed to read and wanted to pass along to all our friends, and family who were effected by this storm. Not to belittle the devastation that took placed, and the clean up that will now come, but rather encourage and remind us of all that we do have. We are safe, alive, and above all we have a loving God that does look after us. We are part of His family and that is something to be thankful for!
I'd love to hear from you! What is something - even in all the craziness of this storm - that you are thankful for?
Rebecca -
Even as we threw out all of our earthly possessions, I gave thanks for another opportunity for God's glory to be on display in our neighborhood. We feel the weight of responsibility of show His love, His joy, His hope and His peace to our friends and neighbors through a time of great hardship. It is a challenge to help our children understand why they can no longer play with their favorite toy or why the quilt their grandma made them is gone. However, we are His mouthpiece to a city in great need of the gospel, and we are here for such a time as this.
