On the Road

Yesterday we started our journey to NC for our first family vacation! I've really been looking forward to this trip - ok, maybe I've been looking forward to how this trip would go, interested to see how Little girl would do. I'm very happy and more grateful to say she did great! We started out from our place @ 4:15 Tuesday afternoon, made our way into Manhattan, and then on from there to Richmond Va. We arrived @ 1:30 this AM, got some rest and then awoke this morning and headed on the rest of our trip. Over all we had a great trip, and Kaia did so well!

Last night, as we were on our way, we got stopped in traffic - explain this to me! We were driving along and all of a sudden @ 12am, 3 lanes of traffic go to 1 lane and to a dead stop! How does this happen? Its the middle of the night! And, to make it even more frustrating, as we are ever so slowly driving through this area we see all the people who are suppose to be working, sitting on the gaurd rails, or on their machines, or drinking their coffee! Really? This is why 2 lanes of traffic are closed on a major highway? To have a cup of coffee? To take a brake?! Ahhhhh - it was SO frustrating! We were only an hr away from where we were stopping, and after sitting in that for 45min needless to say we didn't make very good time. Oh well, such is life when you're driving, and I was just thankful that Kaia slept right through it!

In other great neighborly news, the girl that lives down the hall from us called to let me know that they were getting rid of their vacum, and did I want it. There was nothing wrong w/ it, they just got a new one, and she felt bad just throwing it away. Sure! We had one, but left it back in Buffalo when we moved, and I've been wishing we had it. This couldn't have come @ a better time. I went down to get it, and not only did she have lots of bags to give me, but attachments, but it was an Oreck! I use to have a Bisall : ) I'm a very happy woman, now all I need is a rug or some carpet to vacuum! hehe

I'm very happy to be here in Wilmington, seeing family and staying w/ good friends - something I miss in NYC, good couple friends. In time, I know it'll happen . . . . Tomorrow, the beach, and who knows what else - We're on vacation!
