I packed the girls up in the big red bus, and hurried out to the eye glass place to get my little eye test done. A few things I learned on this outing -
1) I might have a slight case of social anxiety - I get all nervous when I go out w/ the girls, I'm never sure how they are going to act, will Kaia listen? Will Olivia scream the whole time? And then once I get to wherever it is that we are going, I'm all hot, and splotchy w/ red spots on my face and neck. Ugh, its a huge production it feels like sometimes!
2) Kaia HATES anything/place/setting that might resemble a Dr office. HATES.
We get to the store, I tell the girl what I need 'Oh sure, not a problem!' The 'Dr' comes over and we step into a little side room w/ the chair that has all the funny looking glasses to look through, and he casually closes the door behind him. Kaia didn't see anything. The guy was in khakis and a button up shirt, no white lab coat! She goes nuts, screaming and crying. I pull her out to try and calm her down, while sitting in the seat, he turns the lights out to show the lettings on the wall for me to look @ while having one eye covered -
Oh, side note, I think I'm starting to loose my vision. I did much better looking through my left eye, I think glasses might be in my future, ugh.
and Kaia is screaming, I'm trying to tell the guy what line I can read, and say it loud enough for him to hear. . . . Really? Really Kaia, nothing happening to you! He was kind, quick and we were out of the room in no time. Only it seemed like an eternity! But sure enough, as soon as that door was open, and the lights were back on and we were out in the rest of the store she was happy and very talkative. Like nothing happened.
Good news, I got the eye exam, and the rest of the paper work that the DMV needed is in the mail. I'm not sure what would have been easier, finding a sitter for me to go to the DMV myself, or doing what I did. . . as far as my nerves go, I think I would have rathered stand in the line @ the DMV by myself. . .
The real issue has been taken care of - the renewal of my lisence - and hopfuly that will be to me soon.
