The Bugs Are Here Part IV

For those who have been following our little project here is yet another exciting part!
It happened on a Sunday morning - not really a good day or time for very exciting things like this to take place, but it did. We are normally on our way out the door for a few hrs on Sunday am for church, but Kaia wasn't feeling well so we stayed in.

To my very happy surprise these little cocoons decided to 'hatch' the same day! Perfect timing! Unfortunately I missed every emerging butterfly. It seemed like every time I turned around there was another one flying around. Here they all are - we had 5 cocoons, and now have 5 butterflied. I'm a little concerned that 1 of them won't be making it - his little wings won't open up all the way. Maybe we'll keep that one and not set it free. . . .

Also, I wasn't sure what the blood looking color was until I noticed that the same color on their wings! I guess when they emerge they're a little wet and the coloring smears all over. That's my guess anyway, like I said, I wasn't able to watch one coming out.
Here they are -

This is the gimp of the group. Poor thing, his wings just won't open.

This has been an exciting thing to watch. I think I might send out for some more and do it again!
Happy Monday!
