In Your Own Words

Journaling is favorite way to pray.
It allows me to get all the things out that I want to talk about with God. It give me a place to come back to and see whats been answered, what I was going through, what I was looking forward to, or where I was in life.

It helps me to view God as someone I personally know when I write down my prayers and thoughts to Him. There is something about sending a hand written letter to someone, or receiving one.
I enjoy looking back over my thoughts and prayers and seeing how things have been answered, or resolved, or how I'm still working through something.

A girl I follow on her site Parenting Steps posted yesterday about keeping a journal this week, and gave some prompts to get her readers started.
With all the craziness going on over the last few weeks, and needing a sense of 'normalcy', I took and challenge and joined her. I read this post at just the right time, as I'm in need of getting back into a journal/prayer time. Shes also giving away a Starbucks gift card at the end of the week to one of the readers who follows through with her prompts - who doesn't love a star bucks gift card?! There's nothing wrong with a little bribery to get a jump start on praying :)

What about you? How do you feel closest to God when you pray? Is it writing your thoughts down, or quietly to yourself, maybe you like to speak out loud? Do you enjoy the smell of coffee brewing at your favorite coffee spot, or are you feel more comfortable in a small room away from everyone and everything? I'd love to hear if you don't mind sharing.
