Recently my little sister was diagnosed w/ Hodgkins Lymphoma. She is a senior in college - finishing up her last semester before her internship. She has an amazing faith and 'lets-get-this-done' attitude. Her viewpoint is very much one I'd love to have about life in general, not just in a time of trials.

I was able to go and be with her, as well as our other sister, for her second chemo treatment. It was the first time it had been just the three of us as adults. No other family, just the sisters. What a special and enjoyable time it was. Of course being the oldest I always feel like the mother hen keeping everyone in line. The memories that were made and inside jokes that formed are precious moments I will hang on to forever. The silent tears that fell when my sister couldn't hear, and the sisterly picking on each other that ensued for the whole visit.
In the grand scheme of things, we are thankful for this type of cancer diagnoses. We are thankful that this will not last forever. We are blessed that she is surrounded by dear friends and is part of a good church who have all taken her as their own project to care for and encourage. Not being close by but seeing these things first had brought much relief to me - as older sister.

This was a verse she posted right after finding out what was happening and right before she started down the treatment road - I have been blessed by her strength and faith and disposition, Hope you find encouragement in it was well. You can also follow her blog as she continues to fight and #kickit
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
