Back To It

LAV = Life After Vacation
Its hard getting back to the grind of everyday life after you've been away for your normal life. We enjoyed a great trip and restful time away w/ Marks family this past weekend. There were lots of fun activities - playing w/ Nana and Papa, swimming in the pool, playing in the yard! - and family to share it w/. Of course there was lots of great food like pizza and wings - WNY staples.

But now its back to our normal lives and the everyday things we do, like going to the park, playing w/ friends, lots of walking - and pushing of the stroller. I really love being w/ family and getting away from the city for a bit, but by the end of the trip I'm ready to be back in my normal NYC lifestyle. People always look @ me funny when I say that we really enjoy, even love, being here. They all think I'm crazy for enjoying this way of life.

I guess its just a matter of perspective. I don't know if I'd really be able to enjoy the 'burb life now that I've gotten use to city living. One things true - you either LOVE the city or HATE it - there's no in between, that I've found anyway.

I think what really makes it easier for me - being away from family, and the life I use to know in the 'burbs - is our great church family we have here. I know thats made a huge difference for me, that we have a great support system around us of people who love us and continue to invest and pour into their church. I love seeing that happen - the body of Christ come together for a common goal - to reach others for Him.

How are you invested in your church? Are you be an active participant or an active partaker? What do you love about your everyday life?

  1. Your post really resonated with me. I truly believe one of the big reasons I am so content here is our church family. Our small group has become our far away family and you help each other out when you need it. It's stretching yourself to experience the family of God. I love it. That said, I can not WAIT to be with my family in a few short days but like you said, coming back is not such a sad event anymore - Praising God for both of us! Wooo!
    ps we are doing NYC in a day while we are on the East Coast - viewing statue from Battery Park, hitting central park and times square. If you recommend a park/playground near any of those let me know. :)

  2. I always wonder what people who don't go to church do when they move to a new city away from friends and family. To our families away from home!
    I'll message you about some parks here : )
