Women I Admire

I've posted about how much I love my MOPS group in NYC here before, but I want to elaborate on a few speakers I heard there.

Last year for our last group we had a lady by the name of Faith Bogdan come speak. A mom - of course - and an author. She also is very involved w/ the MOPS organization as well. She enjoys being a mom and homeschooling her 4 girls. She is also one of the more down to earth ladies I know. She is a great speaker, and I look forward to her book which will be coming out this fall! You can find her blog here - The Nonreligious Christian.

For my last MOPS I was pleased to have the chance to listen and hear from this women, MacDella Cooper. She shared her story of escaping Liberia in civil war and making her way to the US where she lived in the projects of NJ then going into the fashion world. She continued to feel this pull and connection to her country of birth and all the chaos that ensued that land. She wanted to help in some way and get involved. Her organization now has its own school, and provides refuge and education to over 60 kids, giving them a chance at a life not filled with fighting for everything they need. But giving them a hope in Christ, love from those in the school, and sense of self wort. You can find more about her and the organization here at her site MacDellaCooper.org

If you get a chance to check out these ladies and all the things they are doing, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I know they have challenged me, I hope you might gain something from them as well.
