I had worked the night before, and in the morning I noticed the door to the room where all our girls toys are was closed. I opened of the the doors to the room, and in walked Kaia. She tells me that we have to keep the doors shut, they have to stay closed because she didn't listen to daddy.
That's what she told me! Mark wasn't even home to have told her or reminder her why the doors where closed.
I thought about it and how this was a perfect teachable moment, I passed it over instead. I should have made a really big deal about it, praising her for being honest, and telling mommy the truth.
Then I started thinking, when do we start lying? When do we start figuring out that we can change the 'truth' and tell what won't hurt us the most? I don't ever want her to get to that place. I want to raise up girls that know what is right and wrong and do the right thing, the honorable thing, the character building thing.

Honesty is so much more than just telling the truth, it shows and builds good Godly character.
How are you building your own character? If you have kids, how do you encourage and teach honesty and Godly/moral virtues to them? I'd love to hear!

I definitely agree that honesty is the best policy hopefully if you are truth telling everyday then it rubs off on the kids!
