Cleaning Up

With school starting next week for our oldest and our days starting to get a little more crazy with that, I've been working on putting together cleaning list for our weeks. I would like to think that our home is clean. For the most part, I wash dishes every day, we try to make sure the girls toys are not all over the house at the end of the day, and things get put back in their 'homes'. Of course I can't handle stepping crumbs and anything else that needs to be swept off the floor, so I make sure to take tare of those things too once a day. I started to notice that this system, or lack of system, was not working the best, so I set out to change it!

We needed a change in our cleaning system. Really because there wasn't a system at all. So I  made it a priority to make one. I broke down each day of the week with one or two things to focus on for that day. Like dusting on Wednesday, base boards and rugs/carpet on Mondays, and clothes laundry on Thursday, that sort of thing. Then I have a list of things to tidy up and maintain everyday. Breaking every area in our house down made it much simpler to tackle and put onto paper. I'm hoping that I can implement this and make it work for us. As the girls grow they will be part of this system as well, but just like with anything, we will see how it goes and make adjustments that will benefit us the most.

I used this templet to get started - and if you are interested in all kinds of helpful organizational tools and tips check out IheartOrganising.blogspot.com She has some great ideas and practical ways to make 'em happen! A friend Amy - and fellow blogger - had an outline of how she tackles her house work everyday, you can find her break down on her site LIFTED She is also fun to read as well : )

What about you? What are your routines and systems like in your home, and do you have any that have taken a little bit to perfect? Where do you get motivation and or inspiration to keep things neat and clean in your home?

I'll post an update on this soon, after we give it some time to work!
